This season, Michael will return to Opera Omaha as Harlekin in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos. He will return to join the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra for the Complete Version of Händel’s Messiah in his debut as the Bass Soloist. Finally, he will return to Seattle Opera as Zweiter Nazarener / Ein Cappadocier in Strauss’ Salome.

In the 2025-2026 season, Michael sang Chris in a series of workshops of The Wedding Banquet with The Metropolitan Opera. He returned to Seattle Opera to sing Fourth Shepherd in Strauss’ Daphne. He debuted Angelotti and covered Scarpia in Tosca with the Port Angeles Symphony. He covered Dandini in La Cenerentola with Arizona Opera. Finally, he created the role of Gary in Jorge Sosa and John De Los Santos’ new opera Ofrenda in workshop and concert performance with American Lyric Theatre.

A regular at Seattle Opera, Michael sang Silvio in I Pagliacci, Der Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, covered the role of Donner in Das Rheingold, and was a featured soloist on their 60th Anniversary Gala.

Michael has sung a myriad of roles at the Los Angeles Opera including Schaunard in La bohème, Der Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, the Bass Soloist in Bach’s Matthäus Passion, Ophémon in Bologne’s L’Amant anonyme, and the title role in the world premiere of Mollicone’s Moses.

Michael is an avid performer of contemporary and modern opera: he made his South Dakota Symphony Orchestra debut in the leading role of Per Hansa in Douglas Moore’s Giants in the Earth. This performance was presented by PBS and made into an album recording on Pentatone Music’s Record Label (available on Spotify and Apple Music). He has sung the title role in Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr. Fox with Opera Omaha. He also sang Demetrius in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, workshopped the leading role of Rene Gallimard in Huang Ruo’s M. Butterfly and covered Oppenheimer in John Adam’s Doctor Atomic all with the Santa Fe Opera.

He has performed many of the iconic baritone roles of the standard canon: Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Ford in Falstaff, the title role in Don Giovanni, Escamillo in Carmen, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Dandini in La Cenerentola, and many more.

Hawk is an accomplished concert artist. He recently presented two recitals with the Seattle Opera (in 2023 and 2025), exploring the connection between standard operatic repertoire and the American Musical. He has sung in two Liederabends with the Los Angeles Opera, curated by Susan Graham. He has also debuted with the American Symphony Orchestra as the Baritone Soloist in Zemlinsky’s Lyrische Symphonie. With the Chautauqua Institution, he sang the Baritone Solo in the Fauré Requiem and sang in a Swedish Language Recital with Maestro Craig Rutenberg.
